Academic Language Therapy

Striving readers often need out-of-school support from an expert in the field of language therapy.
Much more than merely "tutors", our Certified Academic Language Therapists provide students and families with a
distinction of excellence by setting high standards through an international certification for educators
who complete rigorous evidence-based multisensory structured language coursework and supervised practicum.

Our team of therapists is dedicated to helping all students reach their full potential in written language skills.

Here is what we offer for your student:

Take Flight Curriculum
Take Flight is a highly effective, explicit, and systematic curriculum for children with significant difficulties in
foundational skills including phonemic awareness and phonics. Our therapists guide students through lessons
while the child actively discovers letter attributes and corresponding speech sounds. We break English
into its components— syllable types, prefixes and suffixes, division patterns, and spelling conventions.
After establishing a strong foundation, more skills are built by incorporating fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Individualized Lessons
Some children are less impacted in their dyslexia profile and need a faster-paced approach than Take Flight offers.
Does your student fit this category? Our team makes this determination based on evaluation data from either
their dyslexia diagnosis evaluation or from our literacy skills data collection at the initial meeting. As there is more
preparation associated with individualized plans, this customized approach is slightly more expensive per lesson.
However, students tend to complete their intervention more quickly than those using a prescribed curriculum,
so less overall time is needed for intervention, therefore overall cost of the intervention is equal or less.
Advantages typically include faster growth, less total instructional time required, greater targeting of specific skill gaps, and smoother transition with classroom instruction. If you’d like, we can review your child’s evaluation together and determine whether a customized pathway or the standard Take Flight curriculum is the better fit.
